eBay Pushes Refurb and Priority Listings through Affiliate Marketing

eBay told its marketers that it is making it easier to promote certified refurbished merchandise through the Item Status field, after adding it to its ePN transaction reports in April.

The eBay Partner Network (ePN) affiliate program rewards members for sales and attributed traffic. Michael Leal, director of the eBay Partner Network, also told participants that the ePN team had production in the second quarter of the year.

In addition to tracking item status, he noted improving curated feeds and priority lists. Lyell said eBay introduced the concept of “priority lists” in June, describing them as “items of special value for eBay sellers to sell.”

“ePN is dedicated to helping our sellers improve their business, so we laid the foundation by adding new ‘priority lists’ flags and tracking parameters to all of our feeds,” said Lyle. “Over time, we hope to offer additional pricing in order to reward our partners who have been successful in increasing conversions on these listings.”

The affiliate program is one of the many levers eBay uses to advance its priority projects, which include its Certified Refurbishment Program (available only to manufacturers or sellers authorized by the manufacturer) and its vertical strategy.

Earlier this year, eBay eliminated its outdated “roaming” ePN links, as we reported in February, and by the end of the year, the eBay affiliate program will no longer support the eBay API, Shopping API, or Trading API.
